Dieke Magazine Interview Eva Alordiah

Eva Alordiah featured artist with Drox and Helicopta RecordsHello Eva! How are you?
I’m good thanks. Been having sleepovers at the studio and my bones could do with some tender care, but I’m good I guess. Haha

You recently collaborated with DJ Producer Drox on a track titled “Mercy”, how did the collaboration come about and how was it working with Drox?
Oh Drox and I have built a great working relationship over months now. The track ‘Mercy’ is the first of many to come. Drox’ team at Helicopta records reached out to us, and I was too thrilled to turn it down. Always a pleasure to work with a different kind of artist and Drox felt perfect.

The song is set for release on February 16th with a number of remixes or the track on the EP, do you have a favourite mix?
They hit me in different ways, but ‘Girl on the Beat’ is a favorite for me at the moment.

Where do you get the inspiration for your lyrics?
Wow, inspiration can be such a thing. I think I just really let it all flow. When I get down to work, first rule is to let myself so free that all I feel is the music. Everything about life! My environment, my relationships, people, and myself build up to what I’m inspired by. When it comes, it comes from a beautiful place, so beautiful it feels higher than us. I don’t question it, I just work.

Who do you like to listen to other than your own music?
Oh dear! I listen to a lot of people. Sometimes for the entertainment, most times to learn new tricks, new techniques, words, phrases, and such and such. But when it comes down to it, I’m mostly a reggae+hiphop girl. Most played on my playlists would be Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Imogen Heap whom I love to death, a lot of Eminem, Nas.

These past few years have been amazing for you, what can we expect from Eva in the future?
A lot! I’m just really grateful that I’m able to do the music I love and work with amazing people. My second EP is out in about a month and my Debut album for later this year. Asides the Drox mixes out right now, I also have the lead single from my EP which we just released in January. I’m also working on so many collaborations at the monent. I’m looking forward to much more work with Drox. A compilation CD maybe? Haha! We’d never know

Pardon My Blog Both hold titles under their belts with Drox scoring in as in-house producer at rising label Helicopta and Rapper/Model Eva Alordiah known specially for her hard hitting, unique lyrics, and soulful voice. Eva flaunts her sexy stuff in this video, giving us a little bad girl attitude. The new banger from these two really shows the how talented they are, this collab is definitely something epic.

Ah25 – The track has an old school feel to it and is definitely a dancefloor filler!!! Eva one of Nigeria’s hottest exports jumps on the track produced by Newcastle’s very own Drox and they make it a banger!
Dieke Mgaazine – The result is a hot track with an up-tempo house beat provided by Drox mixed with dope vocals by Eva.

DROX now working with eLDee from Trybe Records

eLDeeWe are very excited to be working with eLDee from Trybe Records. Africa Girl DROX feat eLDee is currently out on promotion with SoulFood and set to rise up the Urban Dance charts over the next few weeks.

In 1998, eLDee and his high school friend, “Kaboom” teamed up with “Freestyle”, and the group Trybesmen was born. Subsequently, eLDee founded his own independent label (Trybe Records) to support the group, and took the Nigerian music scene by storm with two hits in 1999; “Trybal Marks” and “Shake Bodi”. Trybesmen’s debut album “L.A.G. Style” was a massive hit and still a cult-classic. eLDee, as the head of Trybesmen and Trybe Records, re-engineered what has now become the music genre most call Afro-hip hop/Afro-pop or contemporary Nigerian music. With Trybesmen’s undeniably incredible blend of Afro beat, Reggae, Highlife and hip-hop, and over 78 sold-out shows in one year, it was no surprise that Trybesmen became a force to be reckoned with in Nigeria.

Trybe Records also created a platform for new talent that would help achieve the goal of placing African Hip Hop/African Pop on the international map. Trybe Records boasts of developing successful award-winning artists such as Sasha, 2Shots, olaDele, and Dr Sid.

eLDee came up with a collaboration of all the artists on the record label, named them “Da Trybe” and solidified Trybe Records as a force to be reckoned with in the Nigerian Music Industry with hits such as “Work it out” and “Oya” in 2002, and the album “BIG Picture” in 2005. Making a move to the United States in 2002, eLDee recorded a solo album titled “Long Time Coming” and followed up with “Return of the King” in 2006.
